RESALE POLICY
Halifax Crafters is dedicated to showcasing original, handmade work by independent makers. We celebrate contemporary handcraft and are committed to maintaining the integrity of our markets as spaces where customers can directly engage with the creators of the work on display.
To protect this vision and uphold the values of our craft community, we have a strict policy regarding resale goods.
Definition of Resale Goods:
Resale goods are defined as any items not designed, created, or substantially altered by the applicant. This includes mass-produced items, factory-manufactured goods, thrifted, second-hand and/or vintage items or work made by someone other than the applicant.
Policy Details:
Strictly Prohibited: The sale of resale goods at Halifax Crafters markets is strictly prohibited unless clearly disclosed and explicitly approved in writing by the board.. This includes wholesale items, drop-shipped goods, or commercially produced blanks, and kits with minor embellishments.
Handmade Integrity: All products sold must be the original work of the applicant, created through a demonstrated craft-based process. Applicants must be prepared to describe and document their process and may be asked to provide in-progress photos, studio shots, or a breakdown of materials and methods.
Collaborative Work: Collaborative pieces are permitted only if the collaborative nature is disclosed in the application and both/all artists involved are named. The application must clarify each contributor’s role in the creation process.
Use of Components: While we recognize that many handmade items incorporate commercial components (e.g., findings, fixtures, hardware), these must not comprise the majority of the product’s visual or creative impact. The focus must remain on the applicant’s original work.
Juror Review: All work submitted to Halifax Crafters is juried based on originality, craftship, and aesthetic. Any items found to deviate significantly from the accepted application — including undisclosed resale goods — may be subject to removal without refund.
In-Market Enforcement: Halifax Crafters reserves the right to request the removal of any goods found to be in violation of this policy at any time during the market. Repeated or significant violations may result in expulsion from the market and future events.
By applying to Halifax Crafters, you acknowledge that your work is original, handmade, and not sourced from third-party producers. Violating this policy may result in disqualification from current and future events.
